About the Role:
Join a fleet engineering team building the cloud services and APIs that support autonomous vessel operations. This backend-leaning role focuses on production platforms that connect vessels with the applications used to monitor and operate them.
What You'll Do:
Build and operate cloud services that ingest, process, store, and expose sensor, detection, and operational data.
Debug, refactor, and improve an existing codebase across multiple repositories as the platform scales.
Develop Python and TypeScript services and APIs that connect vessels with monitoring and operations applications.
Work with application-focused teammates to provide reliable backend services for operators and downstream products.
Design data models and database systems for operational and sensor-derived data, from initial design through production rollout.
Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot AWS services, improving reliability, scalability, and observability while accounting for delayed or incomplete data.
What We're Looking For:
Typically 4 to 8 years of experience building and operating production cloud or distributed systems, with a backend, platform, or infrastructure focus.
Proficiency in both Python and TypeScript, plus experience designing APIs and working with databases and data models.
Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform and ownership of services from design through deployment and operation.
Comfort working in legacy codebases across multiple repositories with limited guidance, and a bachelor's degree.
Experience with streaming or real-time data, telemetry, sensor or geospatial data, IoT, robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or defense is beneficial.
Comfort working in the defense sector and authorization to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship are required.
Compensation & Benefits:
Base salary range: $144,500 to $300,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
