About the role

About AYDEAAYDEA is a cross-cultural creative agency that helps brands move between the Japanese and US markets. We run market research, go-to-market strategy and content production for global brands, government organizations, media publications and non-profits. We're a small team, so the work you do shows up directly in what our brands publish.
About the role: AYDEA is seeking an English–Japanese bilingual Social Media & Content Intern to help create and manage social media for Japanese lifestyle brands, helping them reach a US audience. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating for social media, has a good eye for visuals, writes well in both English and Japanese, and is curious about Japanese culture, fashion and wellness. This internship offers hands-on experience in cross-cultural content creation, from planning a monthly content calendar to shooting, editing and publishing posts for a US audience.
Key responsibilities:
  • You'll help run social media for both brands, from the monthly plan to the post going live and what we learn from it.
  • Plan: build monthly content calendars for each brand around product launches and seasonal moments
  • Create: shoot photos and short-form video, edit Reels, design carousels and Stories, and write English captions adapted from Japanese source material
  • Publish and engage: schedule posts, respond to comments and DMs, and coordinate creator collaborations (outreach, samples, content tracking)
  • Measure and improve: compile monthly performance reports and suggest what to try next
  • Across brands: translate between English and Japanese, research trends and competitors, join team brainstorms, and support newsletters and product photography
  • As you grow, you can pitch and lead your own content series.
  • Who we're looking for
  • Above all, we're looking for someone who is passionate about creating for social media, always thinking about the next post, Reel or format to try.
  • You think for yourself and move quickly, without waiting to be told
  • You take ownership and keep experimenting until something works
  • You love learning new tools and formats, and put them to use right away
  • You're curious about Japanese culture, fashion, lifestyle and wellness
  • You communicate openly, care about details, and stay calm when plans change
  • RequiredStrong written and spoken English and Japanese
  • Daily, fluent use of Instagram and TikTok, with a sense of what performs and why
  • A good eye for photography, styling and visual design
  • Comfort with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office0–1 years of experience in social media, content creation or marketing
  • Based in Los Angeles or New York City and available for 2–3 full days per week
Nice to have:
  • Experience with Canva, CapCut or Adobe Premiere, and Lightroom
  • Experience with Meta Business Suite, scheduling tools or Shopify
  • A previous internship, or a personal or portfolio account you've grown
  • Business-level Japanese and experience translating marketing copy
  • What makes this internship rewarding
  • You'll work on real Japanese lifestyle brands, each with its own voice and audience
  • You'll learn how Japanese brands are localized for the US, where translation is only the starting point
  • Your ideas get tried quickly, and you'll own real pieces of the content calendar
  • You'll leave with a portfolio of published work across Instagram and TikTokResponsibility grows with results, not with titles or years of experience
How to apply:

  • Links to your portfolio, social accounts or content you've made
  • Your availability: days per week and earliest start date

  • Pick a Japanese brand you admire. What's one post idea you'd make for its US audience?
  • We truly thank all applicants for their interest. Only candidates selected for an initial interview will be contacted. AYDEA is committed to improving accessibility in employment for all persons with disabilities.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
