A heavy civil highway and bridge contractor with projects across Florida is hiring a Senior Project Engineer for FDOT roadway and bridge work in the Naples area. The role manages the technical and commercial side of each job, including RFIs, submittals, scheduling, subcontractors, quantities, and cost. It offers a clear path to Project Manager, and relocation assistance is available.
Schedule
Full-time, based in Naples, FL, with regular time on project sites across Southwest Florida.
Compensation
$105,000 to $135,000 base salary, plus project bonus potential.
What You'll Do:
You will manage RFIs, submittals, and technical coordination with the owner, the Engineer of Record, and the field team. You will review plans, specifications, and shop drawings for compliance with the contract and FDOT standards. You will also build and update the project schedule in Primavera P6.
You will track quantities, cost against bid, and monthly forecasts, and support monthly pay estimates, billing, and cash flow. You will manage subcontractors, including their contracts and change orders, and lead project meetings with foremen, subcontractors, and owner representatives.
You will work with the superintendent to catch conflicts and delays before they reach the field, and coordinate survey, quality control, and quality assurance inspections. You will also keep NPDES permit requirements, the SWPPP, and the safety program on track.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management
5+ years of project engineering experience on heavy civil, highway, or bridge projects for a contractor
FDOT project experience
Experience with RFIs, submittals, subcontractor management, change orders, quantities, and cost tracking
Proficiency with Primavera P6 and Excel
Based in Southwest Florida, or willing to relocate to the Naples area
Preferred Qualifications:
Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license
HCSS Heavy Job experience
OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
FDOT Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification
FDOT CTQP qualifications
Florida Stormwater, Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector certification
