Principal Product Manager
About the role
- Own cross-cutting initiatives that drive step function business & commercial impact for the entire Telematics business unit, working directly with the head of Telematics and with our GTM & field leaders.
- Identify, scope, and incubate new product bets adjacent to our core telematics and vehicle gateway products — forming hypotheses, building business cases, and, once validated, pairing with a small engineering pods to prototype and get in front of real customers.
- Operate as a deep individual contributor on highly ambiguous, complex problems — this is a path for someone who wants to stay hands-on.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
- Minimum requirements for the role:
- Product management experience in B2B (ideally enterprise B2B), with direct, hands-on familiarity working with field, go-to-market, and sales teams, and finding product-market fit for a B2B SaaS product.
- A track record of taking a product from 0 to 1 (or 1 to 10) in a B2B environment — you've built from a blank sheet of paper, not just optimized an existing roadmap.
- Strong commercial and business judgment — comfortable sizing a market opportunity and building a business case from first principles.
- Comfortable using AI tools to prototype and build quickly.
- No deep telematics domain expertise required — you'll build that on the job.
- An ideal candidate also has:
- Former founder or other high-ownership, self-starter experience.
- Experience in a business with some physical-world tangibility, similar to Samsara's own focus on physical operations.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
