Bookkeeper / Assistant to CPA — Tampa, FL (On-site) Alan K. Geer, P.A., CPA · Full-time or Part-time About the firm Alan K. Geer, P.A., CPA is an established full-service accounting firm in Tampa, Florida, serving individuals, small businesses, trusts, partnerships, estates, and non-profits across tax planning and preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, and assurance services. This is a small-firm role working directly alongside the firm’s principal CPA — no layers, no siloed department. Who this is for You’re a capable bookkeeper, with good Quick Books experience or accountant/ tax preparer who’s good at what you do and ready for more. In this seat you’ll see the full range of a CPA practice — individual and business returns, payroll, financial statements, new entity setups — and learn it from someone who has been doing it for decades.
What you’ll do:
Maintain client books in Quick Books: bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, AP/AR, month-end close Prepare or support individual (Form 1040) and business tax returns, including document intake and data entry Process payroll and prepare quarterly and year-end payroll reports Prepare financial statements for CPA review Communicate with clients on missing documents, deadlines, and routine questions Handle office administration: scheduling, filing, e-file confirmations, mail, and phones
What you’ll need:
Solid working knowledge of Quick Books (Desktop and Online)Hands-on experience with personal income tax returns Both of the above matter equally — this role sits at the intersection of the books and the returns Strong attention to detail and discretion with confidential client information Ability to juggle multiple client files and hit filing deadlines, including through tax season Professional written and verbal communication with clients
Nice to have:
Quick Books Pro Advisor certification Tax software experience (Lacerte, Ultra Tax, or similar)Payroll processing experience Accounting coursework or an associate’s degree Interest in or experience with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or AI features inside accounting software) — no expertise required, just curiosity and willingness to experiment Compensation and details Salary based on experience and knowledge — we pay for what you actually bring to the role, and there’s room to move as you take on more Full-time or part-time, flexible schedule On-site in Tampa, FL — this role is client- and document-facing and is not remote Direct mentorship from an experienced CPA, with room to take on more responsibility as you demonstrate it To apply, send your resume through Linked In or email to alan@ageercpa.com.
