About the role

Senior Accounting & Reporting Analyst New York City | Hybrid, 3 days in office
Base Salary: Up to $135,000 + 10% Bonus
A growing financial services organization is looking for a Senior Accounting & Reporting Analyst to join its Accounting & Control team in New York City. This is not a traditional corporate accounting role. The team is looking for someone who can combine a strong accounting foundation with financial reporting, analytics, data visualization, and automation. You’ll play a key role in improving how financial results are analyzed and communicated, while helping the team build more scalable and efficient reporting processes. The ideal candidate is naturally curious and analytical. You understand the accounting, but you also want to step back and ask: What is the data telling us? What trends are emerging? How can we make this process or reporting better?
What You’ll Do:
  • Own and enhance recurring financial reporting and close analytics, including balance sheet and P&L movements, variances, unusual activity, open items, and key trends
  • Build reporting packages and visualizations that turn detailed financial data into clear insights for Finance leadership
  • Maintain hands-on ownership of accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, and supporting schedules
  • Develop scalable analytics around debt activity, financing metrics, and covenant trends in partnership with Treasury and other Finance stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting, reconciliations, analysis, and other recurring accounting processes
  • Utilize Excel, BI/reporting tools, automation, and emerging AI capabilities to improve the efficiency and quality of Finance processes
  • Analyze financial results to identify anomalies, root causes, trends, and areas requiring management attention
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Treasury, Finance Systems, Data, Operations, Audit, and other stakeholders
  • Help improve close processes, reporting routines, controls, documentation, and overall operating discipline
  • What We’re Looking For5–7+ years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience
  • Strong foundation in corporate accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Experience that blends Accounting with FP&A, reporting, or financial analysis
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate the story behind the numbers
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience building or improving reporting and analytical tools
  • Experience with data visualization, BI tools, automation, macros, or similar reporting solutions
  • Genuine interest in using AI and automation to improve Accounting and Finance workflows
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial statement relationships
  • Ability to work independently, ask thoughtful questions, and operate across multiple areas of Accounting and Finance
  • NetSuite experience is highly preferred; SQL or other data-query experience is a plus
  • Why This Role?
  • This is a strong opportunity for someone who has built a solid accounting foundation but wants to move beyond simply producing the numbers. You’ll have the opportunity to influence how financial information is analyzed, visualized, automated, and communicated across the Finance organization.
  • The team is growing and investing in its reporting capabilities, creating an opportunity to build processes rather than simply inherit them. There is also longer-term room for growth as the function continues to evolve.
Compensation: Up to $135,000 base salary + 10% annual bonus

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
