Overview: The TV, Film, and Media Studies Department at Cal State LA seeks part‑time lecturers for the 2026‑27 academic year, filling positions as needed each semester.
Responsibilities: Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours for assigned courses.
Other duties as assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments are determined by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean. Appointments may be made just prior to the start of the semester; availability on short notice may be required.
Minimum Qualifications: Appropriate degree from an accredited university (PhD, JD, MFA, MS) or extensive professional journalism industry experience. Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to student‑centered learning. Proficiency in written and oral use of English. Ability to work in a multiethnic, multicultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, inclusive environment. Relevant work experience and training in journalism, film, or media.

Other departmental tasks as assigned. Salary Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Lecturer A/2 – $5,507 – $6,677 per month Lecturer B/3 – $6,221 – $13,224 per month Lecturer C/4 – $6,825 – $14,523 per month Lecturer D/5 – $8,593 – $15,211 per month Anticipated monthly hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range; most new lecturers are hired at Lecturer A or B rank.
