Position Purpose:
The Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) is responsible for identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare-associated infections. The ICP collaborates with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention strategies. This position will maintain/upgrade-tracking methods for surveillance in order to produce meaningful data and outcomes for patients and hospital staff. The ICP is responsible for hospital wide education related to infection control related duties and is active in managing the infection prevention program. The ICP will work under the guise of the Infection Control Committee. This position will be available as a resource on infection control topics to staff, patients and the community.
As an Infection Control Practitioner you will:
- Develops surveillance methodology, analyzes and reports data to departments involved with infectious disease and for the supervision of infection control procedures.
- Identifies high-risk patients, communicates and collaborates with interdisciplinary team to insure proper plan of care.
- Data collection is to include standards as defined by the CDC and NHSN.Maintains daily contact with all patient areas for detection and monitoring of patients with infectious disease and for the supervision of infection control procedures.
- Participates constructively in PI activities in the department
- Contributes ideas for cost reductions, improved efficiency and outcomes without sacrificing quality.
- Actively participates in staff meetings and/or committee on a regular basis
- Fully understands and complies with organizational and departmental policies and procedures
- Complies with local department of health regulation regarding reporting of communicable diseases. Maintains documentation of reportable indicators.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Medical Technology with experience in Microbiology, or MPHCurrent RN licensure or Medical Technology Certification (preferred)
- Member of APIC Professional Group
- Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology CIC preferred or, attainment within 2 years after employment
- Experience working in Infection Control at a hospital setting highly preferredFT/PT Benefit eligible Roles:**0.4 FTE (16 hours weekly) up to 1.0 FTE (40 hours weekly)
