We are supporting a leading Aerospace & Defence manufacturing organisation in the search for a Business Unit Manager following an internal promotion. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a high-performing aerospace business unit generating $150M+ in annual revenue, operating within a larger global aerospace group while maintaining a lean, entrepreneurial structure. Designed for an ambitious leader who wants more than functional responsibility, this role offers true business ownership, combining commercial strategy, customer growth, operational performance, and leadership accountability. Why this Business Unit Manager role? This is not a traditional department leadership position. As Business Unit Manager, you will operate as the leader of your own aerospace business, with responsibility for driving growth, improving performance, strengthening customer relationships, and shaping the future direction of a critical product portfolio. You will have:
Salary range: $160,000 - $180,000 25% bonus
Full ownership of a $150M+ aerospace business unit Significant autonomy and decision-making authority Direct visibility with executive leadership The opportunity to influence strategy, growth, and investment decisions A clear pathway toward future VP and President-level leadership opportunities Key Responsibilities of the Business Unit Manager As Business Unit Manager, you will be responsible for: Full P&L ownership, including revenue growth, margin improvement, and cash generation Developing and executing business growth strategies Leading cross-functional teams across Program Management, Business Development, Account Management, and Operations Building and maintaining executive-level relationships with aerospace OEMs and Tier 1 customers Identifying new business opportunities and securing future programme wins Driving continuous improvement across the business unit Developing a high-performing leadership team and creating a culture of accountability The Opportunity of the Business Unit Manager: This role provides the opportunity to build an executive leadership profile within a highly successful aerospace organisation. You will not simply inherit an existing business- you will be expected to think strategically, identify opportunities, make decisions, and drive measurable results. The successful candidate will have the platform to demonstrate their ability to run a complex aerospace business, creating a strong foundation for progression into senior leadership roles.

  • Experience leading teams and delivering results through others
  • Strong commercial awareness and business judgement

  • A proactive ownership mindset with the ability to make decisions and drive change
  • Highly desirable experience of the Business Unit Manager:
  • Aerospace & Defence manufacturing experience
  • Previous P&L or financial ownership
  • Experience managing complex engineered products
  • Experience working with OEMs or Tier 1 aerospace customers
  • Background in programme leadership, engineering, operations, or commercial growth
