The Corrosion Technician performs tests, repairs and maintenance related to pipeline corrosion. Inspects and tests facilities and equipment to identify existing and potential corrosion problems.
Responsibilities: Work independently, make field decisions without direct supervision and be responsible for obtaining field data to determine condition of structures under evaluation. Compile and submit field data for senior staff review. Be familiar with standard survey and construction practices for corrosion control projects. Evaluate field data and prepare draft reports for the area supervisor. Adhere and promote company safety measures at all times Collect field data points using a GPS unit Work with mobile and desktop applications.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: 0-3 years (minimum) experience in corrosion control industry particularly related to cathodic protection work. Ability to work independently as well as interact with team members, clients, and management staff. Ability/willingness to travel as required for the job. Clean driving record and ability to operate a company vehicle. Basic computer skills in MS Office programs and field applications for surveying and data management. Availability for occasional evening and weekend work. This position may require significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces, lifting up-to 60 pounds, and, in general, being overall physically demanding. It may also require work in an all-weather environment. This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
