About the role
- Report to and work with the Director of Audience Engagement to plan and execute vertical, news-driven video content.
- Manage producers, creator lead and editors on the Vertical Video team, supporting their professional growth and ensuring the team meets publication deadlines, editorial standards, and performance goals
- Provide editorial and production guidance to creator leads for creator-driven content, and ensure that videos meet a high standard for substantive, timely reporting
- Work closely with the other Vertical Supervising Producer to oversee the vertical video team, manage editorial priorities, and ensure the team operates as one cohesive unit
- Work closely with the Director of Audience Engagement and Editor in Chief to assign stories, approve pitches, and shape stories in conjunction with producers and creator leads
- Oversee all aspects of video creation with producers, creator leads, and editors: planning shoots, ideating visual concepts, reviewing outlines, interview questions, and shot lists, as well as reviewing scripts and edits.
- Ensure publishing schedule is up to date, projects are on target, and publishing goals are met.
- Coordinate with the social media team to plan distribution and engagement strategies such as copy and on-screen titles
- Hire and work with freelance producers and editors to execute videos as necessary
- Ensure contracts are sent for freelance producers and editors and work is completed on schedule
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet expected deadlines
- Maintain high standard of work in a nimble, fast paced environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
