About the role

React 18+, Angular 18+, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Angular Material, React MUI, Design Systems, Design Tokens, Storybook, WCAG 2.1 AA, CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Git, Automated Testing (Jest/Karma/Cypress/Playwright), AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Codex, Claude Code)
Desired Skills: Lit/Web Components, Shadow DOM, Micro Frontend Architecture, Nx Monorepo, Module Federation, npm Package Publishing, Azure Artifacts, GraphQL, Okta/OAuth2/OIDC, Visual Regression Testing, Healthcare Domain, HIPAA, SOC2Job Description: In this role, you will build and maintain client's shared UI component libraries and the micro-product experiences that compose into the VIP platform shell. You will work with UX, Product Management, Platform Architecture, and QA teams. Together you will deliver a framework-agnostic web component toolkit alongside the existing Angular and React toolkits, and independently deployable micro-product UIs that mount into a shared shell. You will also help set the component standards, design token architecture, and automation that keep the toolkits in parity and let product teams move faster.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain components across the Angular, React, and web component toolkits, keeping behaviour, accessibility, and styling in parity across all three.
  • Build reusable UI components with Angular Material, React MUI, and Lit, working from Figma designs supplied by the UX team.
  • Own and extend the shared design token layer that feeds every toolkit, and the theming that lets products adopt brand changes without rework.
  • Build and extend micro-frontend applications using Nx monorepo tooling and Module Federation, including runtime composition of multiple frameworks on a single page.
  • Design component APIs for consumption by other teams: props and inputs, composition patterns, and controlled versus uncontrolled behaviour.
  • Own versioning, deprecation, and migration guidance for every breaking change.
  • Publish and maintain npm packages to a private Azure Artifacts feed, with semantic versioning and release notes that consuming teams can act on.
  • Integrate micro-product UIs with enterprise platforms, including Okta (OAuth2/OIDC, JWT bearer authentication) token flow across shell and products, and REST and GraphQL service layers.
  • Keep quality high with automated testing: Jest and Karma for unit tests, Playwright or Cypress for end-to-end, and visual regression testing across every component on every deployment.
  • Document components in Storybook across frameworks, and maintain the documentation site that designers and engineers both use.
  • Build accessibility to WCAG 2.1 AA into every component — keyboard navigation, screen reader support, and focus management — so consuming products inherit it rather than solving it independently.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions across dev, test, stage, and prod, with coverage and quality gates enforced.
  • Take part in spec-driven development: turn design and product requirements into technical designs, ADRs, and implementation plans.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools throughout.
  • Mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and contribute to reference patterns, coding standards, and reusable components across the team.
  • Evaluate new technologies and run proofs-of-concept to improve platform maturity and developer productivity.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5 or more years of professional front-end engineering experience.
  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience with React (18+) and TypeScript.
  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience with Angular (v18+), including standalone components, signals, and RxJS.
  • Strong JavaScript fundamentals: DOM, the object model, and modern ECMAScript.
  • Strong HTML and CSS: layout, responsive breakpoints, and cross-browser behaviour.
  • Demonstrated experience building a shared component library or design system consumed by other teams.
  • Hands-on experience with Angular Material and React MUI, including theming and style overrides.
  • Experience with design tokens and multi-brand or multi-theme styling.
  • Experience with Storybook for component documentation and development.
  • Working knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility and how to build to it.
  • Experience writing automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines and working in Git-based workflows.
  • Daily working use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Codex, including writing effective prompts and repo-level instruction files.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
