About the role
- Prepare and verify specifications for materials, manufacturing operations (machining, welding, brazing, ceramic sealing), and qualification tests with limited senior engineering oversight
- Author technical and test reports with ownership of Class 1E qualification packages; lead design experiments and qualification test campaigns (seismic, environmental, radiation-life testing)
- Support engineering associates on design analyses, materials selection for radiation and high-temperature environments, and specification reviews; provide informal mentorship to junior engineers
- Collaborate with Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales on technical proposals, supplier management, production improvements, and new product development initiativesESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Ceramic, or Nuclear preferred); 6+ years of engineering experience in commercial nuclear, aerospace, defense, or scientific instrumentation industries
- Advanced proficiency in mechanical design (GD&T, assemblies) and technical writing; intermediate proficiency in electrical testing and manufacturing fundamentals (machining, welding, brazing)
- Working knowledge of highly regulated industries (nuclear, aerospace, space, defense, medical device)
- Experienced in testing and development of products
- Experience working with outside vendors/suppliers
- Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
- MEMS or sensor design and test experience
