About the role
- Design electrical systems for residential and commercial building projects from conceptual design through construction
- Develop electrical power systems including switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, feeders, branch circuits, grounding, and panel schedules
- Design lighting systems including photometrics, fixture specifications, lighting controls, and Title 24 requirements
- Perform engineering calculations including voltage drop, fault current, coordination, and arc flash analysis
- Prepare basis of design documentation, specifications, drawings, and other construction documents
- Participate in client meetings and collaborate closely with architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Conduct job site walks to evaluate existing conditions and monitor construction progress
- Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and provide construction administration support
- Apply California electrical, building, energy, accessibility, utility, and life safety standards to project designs
- Provide technical direction and supervision to electrical designers
- 3+ years of electrical engineering or electrical design experience within MEP consulting, building systems, or a closely related environment
- Demonstrated experience designing both electrical power and lighting systems for buildings
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
- Working knowledge of California Electrical Code, California Building Code, California Energy Code, Title 24, and applicable utility standards
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
- Experience with Design Master, EnergyPro, or SKM PowerTools is preferred
- Strong ability to read and develop construction documents
- Strong communication, organization, and client facing skills
- Valid California driver’s license and ability to visit project sites as needed
