About the role

A global law firm is seeking a Billing Specialist to support the billing, collections, and reporting needs of assigned attorneys and clients. This position works closely with attorneys, administrative staff, and internal accounting teams to ensure invoices are accurate, timely, and compliant with client billing requirements. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities: Produce prebills, invoices, and ad-hoc billing reports on a monthly, quarterly, and as-needed basis Review, edit, and finalize draft invoices based on attorney instructions, engagement letters, and client billing guidelines Meet regularly with attorneys and administrative staff to review client accounts, unbilled fees, and outstanding balances Prepare and submit invoices through third-party electronic billing platforms while ensuring compliance with client requirements Research and resolve billing issues that may delay or prevent successful invoice submission Monitor outstanding receivables and partner with the collections team to address past-due balances Maintain accurate account notes and documentation related to billing activity Cross-train with team members and provide coverage and support for additional attorney and client accounts as needed Assist with testing, implementation, and documentation of new billing processes and systems Respond to billing-related questions from attorneys, clients, and internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner Handle confidential client and firm information with discretion
Qualifications: Billing experience within a law firm preferred or consulting firm, accounting firm, or other professional services environment Experience handling complex, high-volume billing processes Strong attention to detail and accuracy Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Aderant or 3E is a plus.
