Summary Job Description:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for preparing, submitting, and reconciling billing for multiple program areas including Medicaid, Managed Care, and other government or contractual funding sources. The role ensures accuracy of claims, compliance with regulatory standards, and timely revenue collection. The specialist partners closely with program leadership, Quality Improvement, and Finance to resolve discrepancies and maintain complete documentation. About Little FlowerLittle Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a human services nonprofit supporting the well-being of children, youth, families, and individuals across New York City and Long Island since 1929.Our staff of more than 500 builds well-being by providing prevention services, foster care, residential treatment care, adoption services, programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, and medical and mental health services. Principle Responsibilities Prepare and submit billing claims accurately and within required timeframes Review service documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance before billing Monitor claim rejections, denials, and underpayments and resolve issues promptly Reconcile billing records with Finance to ensure revenue accuracy Maintain current knowledge of Medicaid, Managed Care, ACS, OCFS, and other funder requirements Communicate with programs to correct documentation gaps affecting billing Maintain organized billing records to support audits and regulatory reviews Generate billing reports and assist with monthly revenue analysis Identify trends in denials and recommend system or process improvements Support internal and external audits with required documentation Required Qualifications and ExperienceAssociate degree in accounting, business, health administration, or related field preferred One to three years of medical or program billing experience, preferably in human services or healthcare Knowledge of Medicaid and Managed Care billing systems Strong data accuracy and reconciliation skills Proficiency with billing platforms and Excel Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage high volumes
Travel Requirements:
Position works 35 hour a week, hybrid schedule based out of Wading River, NY. Role may require occasional travel across Long Island and NYC.
