About the role
Network & Security Engineer Lake Zurick, IL Hybrid (2 days onsite weekly)Contract to HireCDW is looking for a Network & Security Engineer with strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience supporting and enhancing enterprise network environments. This role will focus on Cisco and Fortinet technologies, network operations, and key infrastructure projects including firewall migrations, VPN implementations, and network upgrades.
What You'll Be Doing:
Troubleshoot complex network and connectivity issues across LAN/WAN, wireless, VPN, routing, and switching environments Support and administer Cisco and Fortinet network infrastructure Lead and assist with network projects, including VPN migrations from Cisco to Fortinet and other infrastructure initiatives Manage firewalls, switches, routers, wireless networks, and network security tools Maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, VLANs, and IP schemas Perform network upgrades, patching, firmware updates, and capacity planning Support security initiatives including vulnerability remediation, access controls, and monitoring Requirements 5+ years of network engineering or network administration experience Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills Hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies Hands-on experience with Fortinet firewalls and VPNsExperience with network migration and infrastructure projects Strong understanding of routing, switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless networking Experience working in structured cabling and network infrastructure environments Excellent communication and collaboration skills PreferredCCNA or higher Experience with Azure, SD-WAN, SASE, or hybrid cloud networking Exposure to security frameworks, vulnerability management, and compliance environments This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex network issues while contributing to strategic infrastructure projects.
