Job Description
Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Funeral Director and Embalmer to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical role in assisting families during their time of loss and ensuring that all funeral arrangements and embalming procedures are conducted with professionalism and respect. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are dedicated to providing exceptional service to grieving families.
Responsibilities: - Meet with bereaved families to discuss funeral arrangements, including burial or cremation options, location, and religious or cultural preferences - Assist families in selecting caskets, urns, and other funeral merchandise - Coordinate and manage all aspects of the funeral service, including transportation of the deceased, scheduling of services, and overseeing the funeral procession - Prepare and embalm the deceased, ensuring proper sanitation, restoration, and preservation - Apply cosmetics and provide necessary grooming to enhance the appearance of the deceased for visitations and funerals - Assist with the preparation and filing of legal documents, including death certificates and permits - Provide emotional support and guidance to grieving families throughout the funeral process - Collaborate with cemetery personnel and clergy members to ensure a smooth and dignified burial or cremation - Oversee funeral home operations, including maintenance, inventory management, and compliance with health and safety regulations
Requirements: - Valid Funeral Director and Embalmer license in Michigan or ability to obtain within a short timeframe - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain professionalism in emotionally charged situations - Compassionate nature and ability to provide comfort to grieving families - Knowledge of funeral service practices, customs, and regulations - Proficient in embalming techniques and cosmetic application - Strong organizational and time management skills - Ability to work well in a team environment
