Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Associates degree and considerable experience in general accounting, administrative work, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with Dayforce or similar payroll systems Strong Excel knowledge General knowledge of principles, practices and terminology of general, fund and governmental accounting, including financial statement preparation and methods of financial and internal controls and financial reporting. General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).General knowledge of all HUD, Federal, State and local government accounting regulations and procedures. General knowledge of Authority regulations, policies and procedures.
Description: An employer is looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist to assist with processing payroll and financial records to help cover another employee's FMLA.
Responsibilities will include: Coordinates with the Payroll Accountant to perform payroll administration duties including processing records for payroll and benefits, transmitting direct deposit files, processing deferred compensation records, retirement, taxes, benefits and other payroll deductions, transferring reports to Federal and State agencies, updating payroll system. Performs bank reconciliations; reviews, researches, and resolves inconsistencies. Makes cash and check deposits to the Agency’s’ accounts. Offers customer support to employees regarding payroll. Serves as the expert on Travel Policy; reviews travel requests to ensure compliance with Agency's policy. Provides back up to other areas such as Accounts Payable, Tenant Accounting, Cash Receipts, and Travel Arrangements; may perform other related duties as assigned.
