About the role

Office Administrator The Maine Legislature's Office of the Revisor of Statutes, a nonpartisan staff office of the Legislative Council, is seeking applicants for the position of a full-time Office Administrator. Examples of responsibilities: Organizing and managing the day-to-day administrative functions of the office, including acting as a liaison with vendors, reviewing vouchers and office expenditures, maintaining filing systems for confidential information and completing other administrative tasks; performing complex secretarial duties with skill, speed, accuracy and independence, including use of word processing, website and database applications; primary receptionist and initial contact with Legislators and members of the public; drafting, producing and proofreading legislative sentiments; supervising other clerical staff; and other duties as assigned.
Desired Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma including or supplemented by courses in secretarial work or any equivalent combination of education or secretarial or office administration experience; at least 4 years secretarial or office administration experience, including at least 2 years as a senior secretary or comparable position; certification in secretarial competency is beneficial; excellent organizational and time management skills and attention to detail; ability to work cooperatively with legislators and others, often under time constraints; demonstrated proficiency in a variety of computer applications including word processing; and strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Supervisory experience is desirable.
Salary: The salary grade for this position is Grade 6, which begins at $29.60 per hour, commensurate with experience. The biweekly dollar values of some State-paid benefits include: 100% ($15.22) for dental insurance; 14.06% of employee's pay towards retirement; and at least 85% ($508.90) of health insurance premiums. Initial paid leave includes 8 hours of sick time and 10 hours of vacation earned per month and 13 paid holidays annually.
