About the role
Custodian IThe Custodian I performs general cleaning tasks within University buildings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs cleaning functions including dust, mop, wet mop, vacuum, gathers and disposes trash, washes walls, vents, windows, fixtures, etc. Cleans restrooms using germicide solution for control of bacteria and odors, polishes fixtures, replaces disposables such as toilet tissues, paper towels and fills soap dispensers Represent department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization
Qualifications:
Knowledge typically obtained through a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading, writing, and understanding information necessary to perform the essential functions of the position Cleaning/custodial experience preferred Must have manual ability to perform general cleaning, which may include moving furniture Requires frequent bending, stooping, reaching, walking, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
