AWS Data Engineer – (Python, Kafka, Kinesis, AI-Enabled Development) – W2 Contract – Hybrid in Uptown Charlotte Optomi, in partnership with a leading enterprise organization, is seeking a Senior AWS Data Engineer to design, build, and support scalable real-time data solutions within a cloud-based environment. This role will focus heavily on data streaming and event-driven architectures, leveraging technologies such as AWS, Kafka, Kinesis, and Python to build reliable, high-performance data pipelines. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on data engineering experience and understand how to design solutions capable of processing and moving data efficiently across distributed systems. In addition to strong traditional engineering skills, this team is placing increased emphasis on AI-enabled software development. The right professional will be comfortable leveraging tools such as Git Hub Copilot, LLMs, AI agents, and prompt engineering techniques to accelerate development, improve productivity, troubleshoot issues, and streamline the software delivery lifecycle. Building highly scalable, real-time data streaming solutions in AWSWorking with modern event-driven architectures utilizing Kafka and Kinesis Developing data pipelines and integration solutions using Python Solving performance, reliability, scalability, and data-processing challenges Working with large volumes of continuously generated data Leveraging AI tools and coding assistants to accelerate engineering and development Collaborating with engineering, architecture, data, and business teams Helping shape modern development practices that combine traditional engineering expertise with AI-assisted workflows Apply Today If Your Background Includes: Strong professional experience in Data Engineering Hands-on experience building solutions within Amazon Web Services (AWS)Strong experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures Experience with Amazon Kinesis or similar real-time streaming technologies Strong understanding of real-time data streaming and distributed data pipelines Strong development experience with Python Experience designing, developing, troubleshooting, and supporting production data pipelines Understanding of producers, consumers, topics, partitions, consumer groups, offsets, and message-processing patterns Experience designing for scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, and high-throughput environments Experience with monitoring, error handling, retries, logging, and production troubleshooting Strong communication and problem-solving skills
