Role Description:
This is a full-time, on-site CNC Field Service Engineer role based in Cleveland OH or Detroit MI. The CNC Field Service Engineer will install, commission, and maintain CNC vertical milling and mill-turn machining centers at customer locations, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and control system issues, performing corrective and preventive maintenance, and documenting service activities and machine status. The role involves providing technical support and training to customers on proper machine operation, maintenance procedures, and safety practices. The CNC Field Service Engineer will collaborate closely with internal engineering, parts, and service teams, while maintaining clear communication and a professional, customer-focused approach during all service visits.
Qualifications:
Strong field service capabilities, including on-site installation, commissioning, and repair of CNC machinery.
Proficiency in troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and CNC control issues to quickly identify and resolve faults.
Experience providing technical support, including remote and in-person assistance, documentation, and user training.
Skill in preventive maintenance planning and execution to maximize machine uptime and reliability.
Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and build long-term client relationships.
Hands-on experience with CNC machining centers and industrial automation; familiarity with Siemens or Fanuc controls is beneficial.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and service manuals.
Relevant technical education (e.g., degree or certification in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or industrial engineering) or equivalent experience.
Willingness to travel regionally as needed and work in customer manufacturing environments.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and safely.
