About the role

Sharon McMahon is looking for a Social Media Producer/Editor who lives and breathes the news cycle — someone who's plugged into politics and current events, has a sharp sense of what's resonating (and why) across platforms, and can move fast without sacrificing quality. This is a hands-on content role: producing and cutting video and social posts that support Sharon’s continued growth across social media. Sharon (@sharonsaysso) is a #1 New York Times –bestselling author, educator, speaker, and one of the most widely read independent voices covering American politics, history, government, and culture. After years teaching government and law, Sharon built a trusted national platform by making complex news and civic issues understandable, historically grounded, fact-based, and engaging. If you're the person your group chat turns to for "did you see this?" — and you also know how to package that instinct into a scroll-stopping post — we want to talk to you.
What You'll Do: Produce and edit short and long form videos daily for social platforms (Tik Tok, Instagram Reels, You Tube, etc.) Design and create static and graphic social content Always keep up on political news and current events, and identify timely moments, trends, and angles worth covering Translate breaking news and long-form journalism into fast, engaging, platform-native content Pitch ideas and manage a content calendar for social posts Track performance across platforms and adjust content strategy based on what's working
What We're Looking For: A genuine, active interest in politics and current events — you already follow the news closely and have opinions on how stories should be told Strong graphic design skills (Canva, Photoshop, or similar) A sharp eye for what performs on social media and why — platform-specific instincts, not just general ideas Highly organized with strong attention to detail Able to work independently and self-motivate — this is a fast-moving remote role and news doesn't wait Comfortable with a high-output pace, especially around breaking news Excited to grow and evolve alongside the role and the company Takes feedback and runs with it Details Fully remote Candidates must be available to work hours that substantially align with Eastern and Central Time business hours.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
