About the role

A respected boutique law firm is seeking a Collections / Accounts Receivable Specialist to take ownership of the firm's collections and receivables function. This is an outstanding opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys autonomy, direct impact, and the ability to improve processes rather than simply maintain them. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, a CPA who is actively modernizing the department, this role serves as the firm's sole AR and collections professional. The successful candidate will be empowered to develop processes, build relationships with attorneys and clients, and become a trusted member of a close-knit six-person accounting team. The firm offers flexibility in scheduling, minimal overtime, a collaborative culture, and a hybrid schedule after onboarding.
Responsibilities: Manage the firm's accounts receivable portfolio and collections efforts across all aging categories. Communicate professionally with clients, billing contacts, and accounts payable departments to resolve outstanding balances and payment issues. Collaborate with attorneys and firm leadership regarding collection strategies, aging trends, payment plans, and delinquent accounts. Monitor receivables, identify at-risk accounts, and proactively escalate concerns before they become larger issues. Prepare and distribute collections reports, aging analyses, retainer reports, and other financial metrics. Assist with month-end reporting and support ongoing improvements to accounting procedures and workflows.
Qualifications: Minimum of four years of accounts receivable, collections, or revenue cycle experience. Law firm or professional services experience preferred, but candidates from other client-focused industries are encouraged to apply. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting software. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently. Degree preferred but not required.________________________________________________________The Consilio Direct Hire team has partnered with top law firms, associations, and corporations throughout the D.C. metro area to connect professionals with opportunities they won’t find anywhere else. Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
