Job Summary Medical Support Assistant (MSA) Location: Remote (must reside within 50 miles of San Antonio, TX) Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shift | 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm CST | No federal holidays Employment Type: Full-Time Contract Overview Aptive Resources is hiring Medical Support Assistants to support the VA South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) Care in the Community (CITC) program. MSAs provide administrative care coordination support, helping Veterans access community healthcare services. Primary Responsibilities ResponsibilitiesSchedule, cancel, and reschedule Veteran appointments with community providersProcess consults and referrals using VA systems (HSRM, PPMS, VistA/CPRS)Contact Veterans and community providers by phone and correspondenceVerify and update Veteran demographic and insurance informationTrack and manage consult statuses; escalate urgent/emergent casesMaintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of administrative workflowsUse Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) dailyMinimum Qualifications QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredMinimum 1 year of scheduling experienceBasic medical terminology knowledgeTyping speed of 50+ WPMProficient in Microsoft Excel; comfortable working in electronic medical record (EMR) systemsStrong oral and written English communication skillsMust be a U.S. residentAdditional RequirementsMust pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigationMust obtain and maintain a VA PIV card and network accessMust complete mandatory VA training (provided) prior to and during employmentNo health or physical limitations that would restrict performance of clerical/administrative dutiesAbout Aptive Arrow ARC supports Veterans Health Administration facilities and offices across the U.S. with health care staffing and program support via the 10-year Integrated Critical Staffing Program (ICSP).
