About the role
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Ordering & Purchasing Create and submit purchase requests (PUR tickets) and support the PO approval process. Build purchase-order intake forms from vendor quotes (material and service).Place catalog orders (Mouser, Thorlabs, Digi Key, McMaster-Carr, etc.) via self-created carts. Write purchase justifications tying spend to build or program need. Process PO changes and amendments as needed. BOM Management & Procurement Receive released BOMs and own the end-to-end sourcing and ordering of all BOM line items. Track procurement status of every BOM line — ordered, in transit, received, short, at risk. Order Tracking & Delivery Management Track all open orders end-to-end — from PO placement through vendor acknowledgment, shipment, and receipt. Maintain a centralized order tracker with current dates, status, and risk flags. Follow up with vendors on delivery commitments and escalate delays proactively. Confirm receipt of deliveries and reconcile against purchase orders. Status Reporting & Communication Provide regular status updates to the team on open orders, BOM completion status, expected deliveries, and blockers. Maintain clear, visible tracking documentation (spreadsheets, dashboards, or status pages).Contribute to weekly stakeholder communications on procurement and BOM readiness status. PI-Team Collaboration & Cross-Site Coordination Serve as the Redmond-side procurement coordination point, working in lockstep with PI-Teamprocurement operations in Northridge. Align on shared procurement processes, tracking tools, and status reporting cadences with the PI-Team. Coordinate cross-site shipments, part transfers, and shared-BOM sourcing between Redmond and Northridge. Participate in PI-Team syncs and planning activities to maintain full visibility across OISL hardware procurement. General Coordination Coordinate with Optical Test engineers to clarify part requirements, quantities, and priorities. Support shipment preparation and coordination to internal sites and contract manufacturers as needed. Assist with procurement compliance basics (material-vs-service classification, spend thresholds).
Basic Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, order management, or supply chaincoordination. Experience creating purchase orders and tracking deliveries through fulfillment. Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs) in a hardware or manufacturingenvironment. Strong proficiency with Excel/spreadsheets for tracking and reporting. Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple open itemssimultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with procurement platforms (e.g., Coupa) and ticketing systems (e.g., Jira).Familiarity with ERP/inventory systems (e.g., SAP).Experience tracking BOM readiness, build coverage, and clear-to-build status. Background in hardware, manufacturing, aerospace, or R&D environments. Experience supporting optical, test, or lab engineering teams. Experience with vendor delivery management and expediting. Comfort working in a fast-paced, engineering-driven team environment. This posting is for a contract assignment with Tundra Technical Solutions to provide services to a Fortune 5 Client. The pay range that Tundra in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $34.00/hour - $38.00/hour.
