About the role

VDC Engineer Charlotte, NC$100,000-$120,000I’m partnering with a growing underground utility contractor looking to appoint a VDC Engineer to support its expanding project portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of digital coordination across complex utility and infrastructure projects, working closely with project managers, survey teams and field leaders to turn project designs into practical construction plans. You’ll support the planning and coordination of underground electrical infrastructure, including duct banks, conduit systems and manholes. Your work will help teams identify conflicts early, improve installation accuracy and deliver projects efficiently.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and coordinate 3D models for underground utility and infrastructure projects. Review drawings and specifications to identify clashes, discrepancies and constructability issues. Work with project managers, superintendents and survey teams to coordinate utility routes, elevations and installation details. Produce coordinated drawings and model information to support field installation. Participate in BIM coordination meetings with general contractors, designers and trade partners. Maintain models as designs change and support accurate as-built documentation. Help improve VDC processes and the use of digital technology across project teams. As a VDC Engineer you will ideally have: VDC/BIM experience within construction, ideally involving civil infrastructure, underground utilities or electrical/MEP systems. Experience with relevant modelling and coordination software, such as Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks or AutoCAD.Strong understanding of construction drawings, spatial coordination and constructability. An organised, detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage competing project priorities. Clear communication skills and confidence working with both technical and field teams.
