BKF Engineers is seeking a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of our financial operations, supporting general ledger activities, financial reporting, and compliance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on professional who thrives in a collaborative and fast‑paced setting. This position is open to remote work depending on the candidate’s location and business needs.
Responsibilities
Support AP and AR processes, including company credit cards, employee expense reimbursement, vendor set up, document verification, vendor invoice review, daily cash receipt application and timely payments
Perform general ledger account reconciliations and analyses, including:
Cash, revenue, and expenses
Accounts receivable and accounts payable
Unbilled services (WIP), fixed assets, and credit cards
Job cost variance, suspense, and clearing accounts
Support revenue recognition (ASC 606), WIP analysis, and job cost allocations
Assist with tax filings and reporting, including 1099s, business taxes, and 571‑L filings
Conduct internal control reviews for accuracy and compliance with GAAP, tax and regulatory requirements
Assist in preparing financial reports, including flux variance analysis
Support external audits and financial reviews
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
Perform additional accounting and finance duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a professional services or project‑based environment
Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
Proficiency with Deltek Vantagepoint/Vision or similar ERP systems required
Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools
Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills
Physical Demands
Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.
Work Conditions
Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high‑stress, fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
Experience in the A/E/C industry (Architecture, Engineering, Construction)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
Strong organizational and time management skills

The typical hourly range for this position is $43.00 - $48.00 per hour, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is an hourly position, paid biweekly
