Job Title: Systems Engineer III. Location: Redmond, WA. The Software Health Automation team owns the Kuiper Software lab and provides lab as a fully managed service. We make it possible to develop, build and test the code on real hardware. In this role, you will design, build and maintain the lab infrastructure, ensuring lab environments are highly available while scaling the team's processes to ensure long‑term success. You will work hand in hand with development teams from software and hardware, as well as program management and other stakeholders to rapidly deliver high‑quality software. Responsibilities Contribute to engineering efforts from design to implementation, solving complex technical challenges around developer and engineering productivity and velocity, especially as it relates to rapid test iteration. Develop software tooling for operations to keep things running and highly available. Troubleshoot software and hardware problems on hardware equipment. Drive adoption of best practices in code health, testing, and maintainability. Design, set up and maintain test fixtures to verify software on real hardware. Design, develop, implement, test, document and deliver large‑scale, multi‑tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services using multi‑threaded programming, distributed programming in Java and C++, JDBC, SQL, Object‑Oriented design and design patterns, Oracle, and middleware messaging systems in a Linux environment. Assist in gathering and analyzing business and functional requirements, translating requirements into technical specifications for robust, scalable, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture. Own delivery of entire pieces of system or application and serve as technical lead on complex projects using best practice engineering standards. Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation. Participate in a 24x7 on‑call support rotation and travel for on‑site troubleshooting or project launch. Preferred Skills Development, programming and scripting languages: Python, Java, Bash, Perl. Qualifications MS in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field plus one year of experience in the job offered or related occupation involving multi‑threaded programming and distributed programming in Java or C++ on Linux. Experience designing and implementing infrastructure using AWS CDK. In-depth knowledge and experience of AWS CDK implementation. Experience with JDBC, SQL, and Object‑Oriented design and design patterns. Availability for travel and participation in a 24x7 on‑call support rotation. Employer will accept a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty as equivalent to the master’s degree. #J-18808-Ljbffr
