Senior Database Administrator📍 Boca Raton, Florida (Onsite)💼 Full-Time💰 $110,000 - $140,000 Base Salary Build, Optimize, and Protect Critical Data Infrastructure We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator to take ownership of a hybrid Microsoft database environment spanning both on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft Azure. This role is ideal for a hands-on SQL Server professional who thrives in high-availability environments and enjoys solving complex performance, scalability, and disaster recovery challenges. As the organization's primary Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the health, performance, security, recoverability, and growth of business-critical SQL Server platforms. You will work closely with Infrastructure, Security, and Operations teams to ensure databases remain highly available, optimized, protected, and prepared for any recovery scenario. This position offers the opportunity to have a direct impact on enterprise database architecture while driving continuous improvement across availability, disaster recovery readiness, automation, capacity planning, and cloud-based database services.
What You'll Be Doing: Database Administration & Cloud Operations Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments across on-premises and Azure platforms. Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, configuration management, and platform optimization. Manage Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance environments. Support ongoing database modernization and cloud initiatives. High Availability & Disaster Recovery Design, implement, and maintain highly available database architectures. Support technologies including: Always On Availability Groups Failover Clustering Replication Log Shipping Develop and execute disaster recovery testing and validation procedures. Ensure database recovery strategies align with business continuity objectives. Backup, Recovery & Data Protection Own database backup and recovery processes across production environments. Validate recoverability through restoration testing and recovery verification. Ensure critical databases meet recovery and retention requirements. Partner with infrastructure teams to align database protection strategies with enterprise backup solutions. Performance Optimization Identify and resolve database bottlenecks impacting application performance. Perform: Query optimization Index tuning Execution plan analysis Wait-statistics analysis Capacity planning Resource governance Recommend and implement proactive performance improvements as data volumes and business demands grow. Security & Compliance Maintain database security controls and access governance. Implement encryption and data protection best practices. Support auditing, compliance initiatives, and remediation activities. Partner with security teams to ensure proper role-based access controls and least-privilege access models. Automation & Continuous Improvement Develop automation using Power Shell and T-SQL.Create and maintain operational documentation and recovery runbooks. Serve as the escalation point for database-related incidents, outages, and recovery events. Drive ongoing improvements to monitoring, reporting, performance, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications: 7+ years of SQL Server administration experience in enterprise environments. Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises database infrastructure. Strong experience with: Microsoft SQL Server Azure SQL Database Azure SQL Managed Instance Hands-on experience building and supporting high-availability solutions. Deep understanding of: Backup and recovery strategies Disaster recovery planning Business continuity practices Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)Advanced database performance tuning and optimization skills. Strong Power Shell and T-SQL scripting experience. Understanding of Windows Server administration and enterprise storage platforms. Excellent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Azure Database Administration certifications. Azure Infrastructure certifications. Experience with VMware-based SQL Server environments. Experience working with enterprise backup and recovery platforms. Exposure to regulated or compliance-driven environments.
