About the role
- Configure and optimize a 3D documentation workstation for accessing and working with LiDAR and photogrammetry datasets
- Inventory, organize, and standardize existing 3D data, including point clouds and associated files
- Develop file structures, naming conventions, and metadata standards
- Assist in planning a comprehensive 3D documentation program, including:
- Selection of scanners and capture equipment
- Development of capture workflows and documentation standards
- Creation of a scanning schedule and prioritization framework
- Evaluation of software tools for point cloud visualization, processing, and sharing
- Support workflows for:
- Data ingestion and storage
- File management and version control
- Integration with Vizcaya's Digital Asset Management System
- Contribute to strategies for backup, digital preservation, and long-term access
- Identify and document practical use cases across preservation, facilities, and interpretation
- Learning Opportunities
- Collaborative technology implementation within a museum environment
- Hands-on experience with large-scale 3D datasets in a preservation context
- Photogrammetry and active documentation campaigns
- Skill building in digital asset management and workflow design
- Engagement with real-world challenges in data sustainability and access
- Curation of data that supports conservation, capital planning, and digital interpretation
- Strong background in information systems, data management, or a related field
- Interest in digital asset management and digital cultural heritage initiatives
- Curiosity for innovation and developing new processes
- Ability to organize and manage digital information with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, experience with SharePoint, and general computer systems
