About the Role: Horspool & Romine MFG is a long-standing, family-owned machine shop looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Machine Operator / Machinist to join our team. We are looking for a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual who takes pride in producing quality parts and doing the job right. The ideal candidate works well independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and safety. Machining experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn. Responsibilities: Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other machine shop equipment. Produce precision parts according to customer drawings, specifications, and requirements. Perform machining operations including turning, milling, grinding, cutting, and other related processes. Read and understand engineering drawings and work instructions. Take accurate measurements using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment. Inspect parts to ensure dimensions and tolerances meet requirements. Make appropriate tool or machine adjustments to maintain part quality. Maintain accurate part counts and production records. Identify and properly document approved and defective parts. Complete jobs efficiently and within established timeframes. Keep work areas, machines, and tools clean, organized, and safe. Follow company quality and safety procedures. Perform routine machine maintenance and notify management of equipment issues. Work cooperatively with other employees and assist with other shop duties as needed.
Requirements: Previous experience working in a machine shop preferred. Experience operating manual lathes, mills, grinders, or similar equipment. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings. Experience using precision inspection equipment such as calipers and micrometers. Basic understanding of machining processes and cutting tools. Basic math skills, including the ability to work with fractions and measurements. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Ability to accurately maintain part counts and production records. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Dependable, responsible, and willing to learn. Strong commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a clean work environment. Ability to lift and move materials and parts weighing 25+ lbs. Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday. Must be a U.S. citizen.
