About the role

Design Technology Manager Age Wave Solutions | Central Florida | Full-Time | In-Person
About the Role: Age Wave Solutions is looking for a unique combination of CAD expert, problem solver, and software developer to join our growing architecture and structural engineering firm. This is a full-time, in-person position based in Central Florida. This is not a remote or hybrid role. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. This is not a traditional drafting position, and it is not a traditional software development position. We are looking for someone who understands how architectural and engineering drawings are actually produced, and who can identify repetitive processes, bottlenecks, quality-control opportunities, and manual tasks that can be improved through AutoCAD customization, programming, automation, and better systems. The right person will help us design, build, and lead the implementation of those systems. What You’ll Work OnYou will work directly with our leadership, CAD production, architecture, engineering, and software teams to improve how work moves through Age Wave. Responsibilities may include: Develop AutoCAD automation tools using AutoLISP, C#/.NET, Python, AutoCAD APIs, scripts, and related technologies. Build and improve dynamic blocks, intelligent content, templates, standards, and automated drawing workflows. Develop tools that can generate or modify drawings based on structured project information. Help develop systems capable of managing large numbers of plan, elevation, structural, and option combinations. Build automated tools that compare project requirements or contracts against drawings to identify discrepancies. Develop automated QA/QC and plan-checking tools. Extract information from existing CAD drawings and convert legacy drawing knowledge into structured, reusable data. Connect AutoCAD workflows with external databases, APIs, our ERP, and other internal systems. Develop batch-processing tools for large numbers of drawings. Improve drawing consistency, accuracy, speed, and standardization. Work directly with production staff to understand how they actually use CAD and develop practical solutions around real-world workflows. Establish and help lead design technology standards, automation strategy, and implementation priorities across the company. Document new systems and train team members on newly developed tools and workflows. Evaluate emerging technologies, drawing review, and workflow automation, and determine where they can provide practical value.
What We’re Looking For: The ideal candidate has an unusual combination of AEC production knowledge, CAD expertise, and software development ability. Strong candidates may have experience with: CAD / Design Technology: AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture, dynamic blocks, attributes, external references, drawing standards, templates, CAD data extraction, and high-volume drawing production. Programming / Automation: AutoLISP, C#/.NET, Python, AutoCAD.NET API or ObjectARX concepts, APIs, databases, scripting, workflow automation, regression testing, and data processing. AEC / Production: Architectural, structural, fabrication, residential, commercial, manufacturing, or construction-document production experience. Leadership / Systems Thinking: The ability to evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities, prioritize technology initiatives, develop solutions, and successfully implement those solutions with production teams. A degree in architecture, engineering, or computer science is not required. We care much more about demonstrated ability to understand a production problem and build a working solution that improves the business.
Position Requirements: Must be able to work full-time, in person at our Central Florida office. This position is not available as a remote or hybrid role. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Strong hands-on AutoCAD experience is highly preferred. Must be comfortable working directly with architects, engineers, CAD professionals, software developers, and company leadership. Must be capable of taking an automation opportunity from idea → workflow analysis → development → testing → implementation → adoption. You May Be a Great Fit If...You find yourself looking at a repetitive 20-minute CAD task and thinking:“Why are we doing this manually?”You enjoy digging into an existing workflow, understanding why it works the way it does, and then figuring out how to make it faster, more reliable, and easier to scale. You are equally comfortable talking with a drafter about dynamic blocks, discussing an engineering workflow, and opening an IDE to build the solution. Most importantly, you don't just want to maintain existing CAD systems. You want to help build the next generation of how architecture and engineering production gets done.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
