IT Infrastructure Engineer (0–5 Years of Experience)This hands-on role provides IT infrastructure support to keep Manufacturing Equipment connected to the network, and troubleshoot connectivity and perform related tasks. The company is a multi-$B company that produces Industrial and Consumer Electronics.
Job Function: Support existing manufacturing equipment and connect new equipment to wired and wireless networks, including configuring connections to Cisco managed switches. Troubleshoot failures with cables, boards or wireless networks to ensure that manufacturing equipment is talking to both hardware and software systems. Deliver IT support in a mixed environment of older and newer equipment. Install, replace, and test Ethernet cabling and network hardware as needed to connect new equipment or repair existing connections. Ensure equipment connects to the network and logs-into access to ERP and MRP systems, and talks to the different systems (whether it be MRP or talks to a LAN, or WAN, to a routers or switch or wireless access point).Help connect new manufacturing equipment to systems and fix slow connections, Identify recurring connection problems and suggest ways improve equipment reliability and performance, Work with manufacturing and maintenance teams to resolve connectivity issues and deliver IT support.
Requirements: 0–5 years of relevant experience. Entry-level college graduates are welcome to apply. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or without a degree with equivalent practical experience. Understanding of Ethernet, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and basic wired and wireless networking. Hands-on IT experience through coursework, internships, personal projects, or employment. Ability to trace a connectivity problem through cabling, switch ports, IP settings, and equipment connections. Willingness to work hands-on with equipment troubleshooting and cabling in a manufacturing environment. Ability to troubleshoot methodically, from checking settings and rebooting equipment to replacing faulty hardware or running new Ethernet cables to signing into various enterprise systems. Experience with diagnostic tools such as Wireshark is a plus. Ability to deliver IT support to manufacturing operations and maintenance staff, explain technical issues clearly, and follow problems through to resolution. Prior experience with or knowledge of information systems and enterprise software, such as ERP or MRP systems, is a huge plus.
