About the role

We’re looking for a Product Engineer Intern to work closely with the founding team to understand real customer problems, figure out how to solve them, and build products that get used in production. This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who likes moving between product thinking and engineering rather than simply executing predefined tickets. What You'll Work OnUnderstand customer and product problems and help determine how to solve them Build and ship features that will be used in production Prototype new ideas quickly and turn promising ones into reliable product experiences Work across product, engineering, AI, data, and integrations as needed Occasionally join customer conversations to understand workflows and translate them into product Help shape what we build and how we build it as the product evolves Who We're Looking ForThis could be a strong fit for a student or recent graduate from UNC, Duke, NC State, or another university in the Triangle who enjoys building technology and solving open-ended problems. We’re looking for someone who is: A strong technical builder, even if you’re still developing depth in a particular area Curious about the problem behind what you're building, not just the implementation Comfortable figuring things out when the path isn’t clearly defined Able to move from problem → approach → prototype → working product High-agency, resourceful, and willing to learn quickly Interested in startups, AI, product development, and building software that people actually use You do not need to know every technology we use. We care much more about how you think, what you’ve built, and how quickly you can learn.
Why Join:
SwikYou’ll work directly with the founders on real customer problems and ship code into a live product.
You’ll get exposure to the full process of building an early-stage technology company — understanding a problem, talking with users, designing an approach, building it, putting it in customers’ hands, and learning from what happens next.
This is an in-person opportunity in the Research Triangle area.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
