Job Summary Debra-Kuempel isseekingto fill aBuilding Automation Systems (BAS)Design Engineer position.This individual willbe responsible fordesigning systems architecture, setting installation plans, and setting pacingat the beginning of a project.This individualwillalsobe responsible fordesigning automatic temperature control and energy management systems, which includesproducing control schematics, wiring diagrams,settingsequences of operation, programming,and billingmaterial listsbased upon customer needs and/or project plans and specifications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Design and develop BAS, including DDC controls, using advanced engineering principles and industry standards.
Exercise independent judgment in system design, control strategies, and engineering solutions to meet project and compliance requirements.
Interpret construction documents to produce control system designs, submittals, and system architectures.
Develop and program control logic and integrate third-party systems (e.g., BACnet, Modbus).
Serve as technical lead for assigned projects, responsible for key engineering decisions and system functionality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of design intent and execution.
Identify project risks, gaps, and ambiguities; develop solutions and initiate RFIs.
Review and validate engineering deliverables (schematics, layouts, sequences) for accuracy and quality.
Provide technical leadership during commissioning to ensure systems meet design intent.
Recommend design improvements to optimize system performance and reliability.
Select and specify control components and maintain accurate project documentation.
Provide subject matter expertise and elevate complex issues with recommended solutions.
Perform other duties consistent with the scope of the role.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering
Extensive combination of technical training and 2+ years of BAS/DDC or PLC experience may be considered in lieu of a formal educational degree.
5 years' experience designing, programming, or engineering automation/control systems.
Experience using Automated Logic Corp (ALC) products is strongly preferred but not required.
Ability to apply advanced engineering principles and control theory to system design.
Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, and BAS architecture.
Proficiency with schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel design.
Experience with BACnet, Modbus, or similar protocols.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio, Microsoft Office, and BAS-related networking.
Ability to interpret construction documents and engineering standards.
Exercises independent judgment and discretion in technical problem-solving.
