About the role
The role involves ensuring radiation safety and quality in a radiation oncology department, working under the supervision of a Medical Physicist.
Responsibilities include calibrating and maintaining radiation therapy equipment, performing routine quality control, verifying treatment plans, and ensuring accurate dose delivery.
Additionally, the Physicist assists in planning radiation treatments, designing ancillary devices, and educating staff on radiation safety practices.
The position requires performing daily, weekly, and periodic equipment QA, collaborating with engineers, and participating in protocol studies.
Key duties also involve maintaining documentation, adhering to safety standards, and supporting the Radiation Safety Officer.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. with at least five years of experience, a minimum of two years in radiation therapy, and ABR certification or eligibility.
Strong knowledge of radiation concepts, procedures, and safety protocols is essential, along with self-motivation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
Certification as a Medical Physicist (ABR) within 120 days is required.
