About the role
Join Hamilton Tanks as an Industrial Abrasive Blasting Technician Picture your first hour on the floor: you gear up, step into the blast booth, set the right pressure, and strip layers of scale, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt from heavy steel tanks. With steady hands and a sharp eye, you deliver the exact surface profile our welders and painters rely on. When the workpiece leaves your station, it meets spec—every time. You will report directly to the Shop Supervisor and play a critical role in quality, safety, and throughput.
What you'll do:
Prepare and clean products by removing grease and dirt prior to blasting. Load abrasive media (sand, grit, or steel shot of specified grade) into hoppers. Set up, start, and maintain blasting equipment; regulate pressures to ensure safe, efficient performance. Direct blast nozzles to remove rust and coatings; use scrapers, brushes, and abrasive papers as needed. Examine finished material and verify conformance to quality specifications.
Physical demands:
Standing for over 8 hours a day Lifting and carrying 50 pounds Pushing and/or pulling 50 pounds Walking on variable terrain (loose gravel, concrete flooring, asphalt)Turning/twisting/bending at the waist Forward and overhead reaching Ability to wear respiratory protection for over 4 hours a day
What you bring:
High school diploma or equivalent, required Experience as an abrasive blaster or in a related field, preferred Knowledge of a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures or willingness and ability to train on other equipment and/or processes Working knowledge of manual sand and grit blasting machines, materials, processes, and practices General knowledge of hand tools (chipping hammer and wire brush) and power tools (grinder, belt sander, palm sander)Able to continuously demonstrate safe work practices Visual acuity and peripheral perception of 70 degrees Pre-employment screenings (verbatim)Ability to pass background check, drug test, fit for duty test, and Respirator Fit Test (Pulmonary Function Test)
