JOB SUMMARY: Tangent Technologies is seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Sales Engineer to support our expanding HDPE product portfolio. This role will bridge the gap between engineering and sales, helping customers understand the value and application of Tangent's HDPE sheet and decking solutions across diverse markets such as marine, outdoor living, construction, and heavy equipment.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a technical resource for the sales team, providing product expertise and application guidance for HDPE materials. Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Control to ensure product performance meets customer expectations. Present technical solutions to customers, distributors, and end-users, translating complex specifications into clear value propositions. Support the development and execution of strategic sales plans targeting high-growth HDPE markets. Assist in the creation of sales proposals, product documentation, and customer presentations. Participate in customer visits, trade shows, and industry events to promote Tangent's HDPE offerings. Provide feedback to Product Development on customer needs, market trends, and competitive positioning. Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, technical inquiries, and project status using CRM tools.
Requirements: QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related field; equivalent experience considered.3+ years of experience in technical sales, product design, or engineering support-preferably with HDPE or polymer-based products. Strong understanding of HDPE sheet and decking applications, including mechanical properties and fabrication techniques. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP/CRM systems (SAP Business One preferred).Ability to travel as needed to support customer engagements and industry events. PREFERRED ATTRIBUTESExperience in marine, outdoor living, or heavy equipment markets. Creative problem-solver with mechanical aptitude and a customer-first mindset. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to spend time traveling between customer meetings - drive time and time on your feet prolonged. Overnight travel up to 50% of your time. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
