About the role

Job Description: A Chicago-based family office and real estate investment firm is seeking an Accounting Manager to support accounting, financial reporting and treasury activities across both businesses. Strong Senior Accountants ready to take the next step are encouraged to apply. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with broad exposure to senior leadership and a clear opportunity for growth. With the current Head of Accounting approaching retirement, the firm anticipates this person developing into a broader accounting leadership role over time. The team offers a welcoming, close-knit culture where collaboration, relationships and shared ownership are valued.
Key Responsibilities: Manage accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities, including expense reporting and trial balance review. Oversee cash and liquidity management, banking activities and payment operations. Coordinate capital calls, distributions and related reporting. Serve as a primary contact for external tax advisors, including collecting K-1s and supporting tax projections and information requests. External advisors prepare and file tax returns. Maintain entity compliance documentation and coordinate state and registered agent filings. Work closely with senior leadership and external advisors to keep accounting activities accurate, organized and timely.
Qualifications: Approximately 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. CPA or progress toward CPA preferred. Experience in real estate investments, a family office, REIT, investment management or a similar multi-entity environment. Public accounting candidates with family office, REIT, private wealth or real estate clients are encouraged to apply. Strong Excel skills; Yardi experience is a plus. Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines and communicate effectively with leadership and outside advisors.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
