Job TitleAssociation Temporary Camp Program Specialty Director
Job Overview: Coordinate and direct the development and implementation of the aquatics program, including but not limited to swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, canoeing, and stand‑up paddleboard. Supervise senior and junior camp counselors to ensure quality programming in the subject area.
Required Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years old to comply with New York State Department of Health regulations.
Minimum experience: one year as an aquatics director, or two years as a lifeguard at a children’s camp, or two seasons with at least 12 weeks of supervised children’s camp lifeguarding, or at least 18 weeks as a lifeguard at a pool or bathing beach supervised by more than one lifeguard. Current lifeguard and waterfront certification approved by the Local Health Department. Current certification as a progressive swimming instructor, Water Safety Instructor, or Basic Swim Instructor, or ability to obtain such certification prior to camp season. Current CPR for Professional Rescuer certificate or other CPR certification approved by the local Department of Health. Current Lifeguard Supervision and Management certificate. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Ability to supervise and organize staff members. Ability to meet travel requirements associated with the position. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
Preferred Qualifications: Lifeguard and Progressive Swimming Instructor or Water Safety Instructor certificates. Certification for teaching lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR. Position DetailsSalary: $7,700 - $11,400 per season.
