Legal Recruiting Specialist / Senior SpecialistA leading law firm is seeking a Legal Recruiting Specialist or Senior Specialist to join its administrative team. The position will serve as the primary point of contact for lateral associate and counsel recruiting while supporting the Senior Director of Legal Recruiting and the broader recruiting team. The firm is ideally seeking a Senior Specialist, but will also consider a strong Specialist who is ready to take the next step in their career. Prior lateral recruiting experience is required.
Responsibilities: Partner with firm management, practice group leaders, and the Senior Director of Legal Recruiting to identify lateral hiring needs and develop recruiting strategies. Manage the recruiting process for lateral attorneys, judicial clerks, and third-year law students, including screening, interview coordination, candidate hosting, feedback collection, and recordkeeping. Oversee lateral recruiting communications and follow-up, including drafting correspondence and coordinating the distribution, collection, and review of interview feedback. Serve as a primary contact for search firms and other recruiting professionals, communicate search criteria, and provide timely feedback. Build strong relationships with candidates, vendors, attorneys, managers, and staff while providing responsive, high-quality service. Maintain lateral recruiting materials, reports, website content, and online job postings. Coordinate onboarding for lateral hires, including orientation with legal personnel, conflicts checks, and background checks through approval. Maintain recruiting databases, fee agreements, expense reimbursements, and reports related to lateral searches and placements.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. At least five years of legal recruiting experience at a large law firm. Lateral attorney recruiting experience is required. Strong project management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and budgets. Self-directed and motivated, with the ability to anticipate needs and work with minimal supervision. Excellent communication, listening, time management, and prioritization skills. Strong computer skills and sound judgment when making decisions within the role. Collaborative, flexible, and committed to providing thoughtful and courteous service to candidates and colleagues. Willingness to work overtime as needed, with significant overtime during the summer and fall recruiting seasons. Willingness to travel occasionally, approximately two to three times per year.
