About the role

Position Summary: SunStrong Management delivers technical asset management and operations for a renewable portfolio spanning solar, battery energy storage, wind, and EV infrastructure. Portfolio Management is the owner’s representative in operations: it owns asset performance, holds Field Service Partners to their contracts, and turns production data into decisions. The Operations Manager is accountable for outcomes—not activity—across a portfolio of renewable energy assets. This role owns performance, reliability, and financial results by leading Portfolio Managers and enforcing execution across Field Service Partners (FSPs).Success in this role is measured by measurable improvement in PI, availability, response times, and financial returns—not reports, meetings, or effort. If the portfolio underperforms, this role owns the recovery plan and the result.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Accountability Own the performance of all direct reports (Portfolio Manager I, II, III, and Coordinators). Set clear KPIs tied to production, availability, and financial outcomes. Hold the team accountable for closing gaps—not explaining them. Build a culture of urgency, ownership, and first-time-fix execution. Portfolio Performance Ownership Own portfolio-level PI, availability, reliability, and financial performance. Translate underperformance into actionable recovery plans with timelines. Ensure issues move from identification root cause resolution without delay. Eliminate repeat failures through systemic fixes, not temporary patches. Vendor & FSP Enforcement Hold FSPs accountable to SLAs, performance guarantees, and safety expectations. Drive escalations aggressively when performance does not meet expectations. Replace underperforming vendors when necessary. Ensure all work delivers measurable ROI and production impact. Execution & Deliverables Ensure all work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities are executed with speed and quality. Validate that completed work actually resolves the issue and improves performance. Own delivery of accurate, concise, and outcome-focused reporting to leadership and ownership. Remove bottlenecks across internal teams, vendors, and processes. Financial Ownership Own the financial impact of operational decisions. Ensure spend is tied directly to production improvement or risk mitigation. Validate CapEx vs. OpEx decisions with clear ROI justification. Translate operational performance into financial results for stakeholders. Cross-Functional Leadership Align Asset Management, Engineering, Finance, and O&M execution. Drive consistency across portfolios while allowing targeted optimization. Lead onboarding and transitions with full operational control from day one.
Qualifications: Required Ten or more years of experience in solar, BESS, or renewable energy operations. Proven leadership experience managing high-performance teams. Deep expertise in solar and BESS systems, OEMs, warranties, and RMAs. Strong understanding of PI, availability, and performance drivers. Experience managing third-party O&M providers at scale. Strong financial and operational decision-making capability. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience. Experience onboarding and transitioning portfolios from EPCs, owners, or prior O&M providers. Working familiarity with monitoring, CMMS, and BI platforms (e.g., PowerTrack, Maximo, Power BI).Location Remote (US-Based) with regular travel to project sites and corporate office

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
