About the role
HR Specialist, CompensationIssaquah, WAWhat's the Short Version?The Compensation Specialist assists in the review and administration of SanMar's compensation program. The position identifies compensation policy and practice opportunities which may make a positive difference to the business and the employee experience, and makes recommendations for change to the Director, Compensation & Benefits.What Will You Be Doing?Maintain job description library, drafting and updating job descriptions, evaluating jobs, and determining their classification.Complete research and analysis to ensure pay plans and ranges remain competitive; make recommendations for adjustments and compensation program enhancements.Support the administration of the annual merit and bonus process including managing data, reviewing changes, and providing logistical support and compensation guidance to HR and managers.Provide support for HR partners by supplying appropriate pay grades, ranges and pay data for new positions, new hires, promotions, etc. Assist in resolution of routine compensation concerns and respond to issues and questions from managers and employees.Help prepare salary survey submissions, market assessments and associated analysis.In conjunction with the Compensation and HRIS team, support development and maintenance of compensation data, tables and overall set-up in all HRIS systems. Track market trends; generate reports and assist in the development of recommendations and action plans designed to attract, retain, and reward employees.Support the audit of pay practices to ensure compliance with policies, guidelines, and wage and hour laws; conduct FLSA assessments.Perform other duties as assigned.Comply with all policies and standards.What Are We Looking For?Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience1+ years of experience in Compensation, Total Rewards, HR Reporting and Analytics, or related workExposure to compensation practices, terminology and structures.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in the use of HRIS and Excel software applications; PowerBI experience preferred.Excellent research skills and great attention to detail.Must be able to prepare accurate reports and presentations independently and present ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.Familiarity with FLSA compliance guidelines.General understanding and knowledge of wage and hour laws and compensation practices, including state equity pay regulations.Excellent organizational skills, to include the ability to prioritize projects and meet established or anticipated deadlines.Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact with individuals internal and external to the organization in an effective, courteous, and productive mannerAbility to maintain confidentiality in all work performedAbility to follow instructions and work independently in the completion of assigned tasksWhat's Our Offer?Salary Range: You`ll earn between $32.56 - $40.87 on an hourly basis, depending on experience.Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a weekly basis based on hours worked up to 112 hours per year to start. Employees are required to work in our offices Tuesday through Thursday each week and additional days may be added based on business needs. Our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. Periodic travel may be required. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and participating in virtual and in-person meetings. Frequent use of hands for keyboarding and standard office equipment is required.Occasional standing, walking, and reaching may be needed to attend meetings or collaborate in an office setting. The role requires the ability to perform close visual work on a computer for extended periods. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10–15 pounds.
