Role Description:
The Construction Superintendent at XANDER is a contract, on-site role based in Chicago, IL, responsible for overseeing daily field operations and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to design specifications. This role coordinates subcontractors and trades, manages site logistics, conducts daily walkthroughs, and enforces safety protocols and quality standards. The Superintendent collaborates closely with project managers, architects, and owners to track progress, resolve field issues, and maintain accurate documentation, including daily reports and schedules. The position also monitors materials and equipment deliveries, supports inspections, and helps manage cost impacts related to site activities.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong Construction Site Management skills, including supervision of trades, coordination of daily activities, and enforcement of quality standards. Candidates should possess solid Construction Safety knowledge, with experience implementing safety plans, conducting toolbox talks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Candidates should possess effective Organization Skills, including documentation management, scheduling, and attention to detail in fast-paced environments. Candidates should possess Budgeting and Project Management abilities, such as tracking costs, supporting change management, and aligning field work with project timelines. Additional beneficial qualifications include experience as a superintendent on commercial or mixed-use projects, familiarity with local building codes and inspections in Chicago, and proficiency with construction management software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to lead diverse teams on-site, and a commitment to safety and quality are essential. A relevant technical or construction-related degree, certification, or equivalent field experience is preferred.
