Senior Vice President, Public Relations: Technology Practice Agency experience required Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week in our NYC office Proven success leading teams in a fast-paced environment Hands-on executive: this role combines practice leadership with direct client work, so you'll need to set the vision and be willing to roll up your sleevesA growing, independent communications agency is seeking a senior executive to lead and scale its technology practice. Our clients range from high-growth startups to established platforms across advertising technology, marketing technology, enterprise software, and artificial intelligence. We're looking for a proven leader who can counsel C-suite executives, shape the practice's direction, and drive meaningful growth.
The Role: You'll own the technology practice's performance and serve as the senior strategic voice across its client portfolio. That means: Setting the vision and growth strategy for the technology practice, including service offerings, positioning in the market, and long-term goals. Owning practice financials, including revenue targets, account profitability, and forecasting, in partnership with agency leadership. Serving as a trusted advisor to client CEOs, founders, and CMOs, guiding them through positioning, market shifts, funding milestones, and reputation challenges. Overseeing communications programs tied to business outcomes, from launches and funding announcements to executive visibility and category leadership. Setting the bar for earned media across top-tier business, technology, and trade outlets, and positioning executives as recognized voices in their industries. Leading new business efforts end to end, from prospecting and pitch development to closing, while growing existing client relationships. Building, mentoring, and managing a high-performing team, including VPs and account leads, and shaping hiring, talent development, and team culture. Representing the agency externally through industry relationships, events, and thought leadership that raise the practice's profile. Staying ahead of developments in adtech, martech, SaaS, and AI to keep client strategies and agency offerings ahead of the curve.
What We're Looking For: 12+ years of communications experience, with deep expertise representing B2B technology companies. Senior-level agency leadership experience, including managing a practice, large account portfolio, or significant book of business. A proven record of winning new business and growing revenue, with comfort owning financial targets. Established relationships with top-tier reporters and editors covering enterprise tech, marketing, and AI, plus a history of securing coverage that shapes industry conversations. Experience advising C-suite executives and building trust with senior client stakeholders. Exceptional writing and strategic thinking across messaging, communications plans, executive content, and new business proposals. A track record of building and leading teams, including developing senior talent.
