About the role

Beacon Hospice provides compassionate care to patients and families during some of life's most tender moments. One of the most meaningful ways you can make a difference is by sharing your time and talents through handmade gifts that bring comfort, warmth, and cherished memories. Whether you enjoy quilting, crocheting, knitting, sewing, or crafting, your creations can become treasured sources of support for those we serve. Volunteer Opportunities Handmade Lap Blankets Create cozy lap blankets that provide warmth, comfort, and a sense of security for our patients. These special gifts brighten rooms, lift spirits, and remind patients that they are surrounded by care and kindness. Veteran Blankets Help us honor our veteran patients with patriotic Red, White, and Blue blankets that recognize their service and sacrifice. Memory Bears Using clothing from a loved one who has passed away, volunteers can create beautiful memory bears that become treasured keepsakes for family members. These handmade bears offer comfort, preserve precious memories, and provide a tangible reminder of a loved one's life and legacy. Why Volunteer? This flexible opportunity allows you to volunteer from the comfort of your own home and work at your own pace. We can even connect your handmade gift to a specific patient or family, creating a more personal and meaningful experience for everyone involved. Yarn and other materials may be provided when available. Every stitch, every seam, and every thoughtful detail become an expression of compassion. Your handmade gift can bring comfort to a patient, honor a veteran, or help a family hold onto cherished memories during a difficult time. Make a Difference Today Join us in creating something truly special. Through blankets, memory bears, and other handmade treasures, you can help bring comfort, dignity, and love to those who need it most. Interested in volunteering? We'd love to hear from you.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
