About the role

We are seeking an experienced Field Examiner to join the Credit organization of a commercial banking institution in New York. This role will focus on independent collateral monitoring, review, and oversight across the C&I portfolio, with an emphasis on Asset-Based Lending (ABL) and Middle Market relationships.
Key Responsibilities: Review collateral field examinations and appraisals and communicate major findings to business, credit risk, senior management, and other stakeholders Ensure field examinations and appraisals are conducted in accordance with industry standards and best practices Assess the quality and reliability of borrower information, including books and records, collateral, loan positions, accounts receivable, and inventory Participate in field examination exit interviews alongside business teams Monitor collateral performance and identify deteriorating financial or collateral trends Provide recommendations related to collateral and credit risk Oversee field examination and appraisal activity, including examination status, frequency, vendors, expenses, and reporting Evaluate and support the approval of new field examiners, appraisers, and other vendors Stay current on market and economic developments impacting borrowers and the broader lending environment
Qualifications: 3–10+ years of experience within ABL and/or Middle Market commercial lending and collateral monitoring Field examination experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of Asset-Based Lending, including accounts receivable and inventory Strong credit and financial analysis skills Knowledge of collateral monitoring and risk management throughout the credit cycle Understanding of loan workouts and distressed credit situations Background in finance, accounting, asset management, or valuation Experience with field examination software such as IDEA is a plus Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline; MBA preferred This is an opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in ABL field examination and collateral monitoring who can operate independently while working closely with credit and commercial lending teams.
