About the role

Robotics Software Engineer Build software that drives autonomous robots in the real world. FireFly Robotics is the world leader in autonomous fairway mowing — and we're growing. Since 2010, we've been engineering fully automated harvesters and robotic field mowers used daily on premier golf courses and sports turf facilities nationwide. Now we're looking for a Full Stack Web Developer to help build the command-and-control interface at the heart of our fleet operations. AMP is our autonomous mowing platform. It maintains large green spaces used for golf and sports turf. Customers map boundaries, plan stripes, and set full mowing routes with QuickPlan software inside our FireLink platform. They place the mower in the field and start the plan from FireLink. AMP handles the rest. It delivers consistent, high-precision mowing, giving maintenance crews more time for higher-value work.
The Position: We are hiring a Robotics Software Engineer who enjoys solving real problems in real environments. You will help us deliver safe, reliable, centimeter-level mowing. Your work will touch controls, perception, localization, path planning, and command and control. You will lead one of these areas based on your strengths.
About the Role:
  • Remote - USA candidates only - No VISA sponsorship
  • Travel up to 10 percent
  • Health, vision, and dental benefits
What You Will Do:
  • Build planning, perception, and localization algorithms for AMP
  • Develop code that interprets real-world data and conditions
  • Combine sensor data from cameras, LiDAR, stereo depth, and GNSS
  • Improve performance for edge computing using Python and C++
  • Support other parts of the software or hardware stack when needed What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • Three or more years of experience in robotics
  • Skill in computer vision, path planning, localization, GNSS, object detection, or imaging
  • Experience building robotics systems with common frameworks, especially ROS2
  • Experience developing robotics software from scratch
  • Interest in working across multiple areas as our team grows Bonus Skills
  • Deploying and tuning algorithms for embedded compute
  • Working with kinematic constraints in planning
  • Using ROS2, Docker, or MQTT
  • Solving complex robotics issues under real conditions
  • Strong communication and teamwork habits
  • Comfortable working around machinery and operating equipment
  • Interest in golf or turf maintenance work

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
